Empire Girls State is a hands-on week-long educational workshop, focusing on Americanism and the political process. The goal of the program is to help students to better understand democratic ideals and the part we as individuals play in carrying out these ideals. Interested females must be between the ages of 15 and 18, and in the upper third of their Junior class. Students are able to stop by the cafe cart in between period 1 and homeroom, however, they are not allowed to be late for homeroom. Even if you are in the cart line, you are responsible for going to homeroom on time. Going to homeroom late without a pass can result in a detention. In addition, the cafe cart is closed during homeroom. Do not use teacher passes to come down.
The Library Media Center has been busy with classes, student projects, study halls,and student research. Because of the increase in student use, there is now a limit of 3 students per study hall. Unfortunately, teacher passes are not able to supersede this limit. If you have a study hall and need to go to the library to do work, please follow your study hall teacher's procedures.
Hats, beanies, and hoods. Please remember that hats and hoods cannot be worn during school hours.
There will be a recruiter from the Army National Guard in the commons during all lunch periods on Thursday, February 16th. You can talk to him during your lunch period if you are interested and you can see your counselor if you have any questions.
